The Close of a Semester
Well, folks, our third semester of graduate school is officially over. Time sure flies! Our final grades were just released and I’m feeling pretty good. I spent quite a lot of time finishing up all the last assignments over the last two weeks. I got sick of staring at my computer but really enjoyed the window seat in our spare bedroom. It’s spring time and the air feels cool and refreshing. Some families moved in to the apartment complex so we now hear children playing all day. I love it. It was so weird living in a mostly empty complex. Well, it’s still mostly empty but whatevs.
We’ve only got seven weeks left in China. I’m proud to have completed grad school while living here but sad that I spent so much time inside studying China rather than outside exploring it. I’ve been trying to make up for it though. I’ve had lunch with different people almost every day this week, hiked with Matt last weekend, and hiked again today with two friends. We have plans for a couple of weekend trips and I’ve got my eye on a couple of local day trips. I really wish I would have been able to see more but China is a HUGE country and it’s just not that easy (or cheap, believe it or not) to get around. We’ll have to come back at some point to explore Tibet and Hong Kong (both fairly high on my t0-see list!).
Our time in China has been pretty crazy. Honestly, I think I’m still processing what it means to me. I’m hoping to write more about it… just as soon as I complete my thesis. Haha! We have the option of working through the fall semester, if we need it, but I’m going to try to get it done by August. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can.
